Wipes
Adhesive Remover wipes and Skin Barrier wipes are individually wrapped, pre-moistened towelettes. They're convenient and ready to use right out of the package. Look for wipes that say, "alcohol free" or "sing free". Read the label before using, their packaging is so similar, it’s easy to get them mixed up.
Adhesive Removers are designed to help remove your skin barrier or wafer without damaging your skin.
Skin Barriers function like a liquid band-aid by creating a barrier for broken down skin to begin healing. Watch the video on CRUSTING for instructions.
Sprays
The same formulas found above in Adhesive Removers wipes and Skin Barrier wipes can also be found in a Spray. It's a personal choice, but some insurance prefers to cover only the wipes.
Stoma Powders
The Powders referred to here are Stoma Powders used to help heal broken down skin around the stoma. All other powders should NOT be used unless otherwise instructed by a clinician trained in ostomy care and management.
Stoma Powder is generally used with a Skin Barrier wipe or spray in a technique called "Crusting". (See the video called CRUSTING). When used properly, Stoma Powder can bring relief and healing to hurting skin. If used improperly, the ostomy pouch adhesive is compromised and you're likely to experience leaks and further skin breakdown.
